The year eludes me, but ESP was playing a tailgate for one of the Engineering Alumni Associations (probably EE, but not sure . . . apologies to Jerry Kolbe). A "sort of signature song" that we did in those ways was CSN's "Wasted on the Way". After we were done, we were approached by a somewhat wild-haired female alum who informed us that we needed violin on that song. We invited Eileen Christman to our show at the Autoport that night. We didn't think she'd actually show. But she did and we weren't sure what we had gotten ourselves into that the time. After a few songs we started to give each other this kind of "well that's not too bad" look and after a break (during which Eileen fetched her electric violin) we played "Dust In The Wind". After that, there was pretty much an unspoken acceptance that ESP had just become a foursome. Out of that foursome, Acousitc Artifacts was born.
